Driver injured in side-impact collision at intersection

A 35-year-old woman driving a Tesla was making a left turn at an intersection on a surface street when an oncoming vehicle went through a light at about 40 to 45 miles per hour and struck the driver’s side door. The airbags deployed and there was several inches of intrusion on the driver’s door. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was traveling at about 15 miles per hour when hit. She reported no loss of consciousness and remembered the entire event. She had abrasions on both legs and tenderness on the left side of her ribs. She was alert, answering questions appropriately, and had normal vital signs. She was transported in stable condition to Sharp Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
