By joining CrimeRadar, you're agreeing to be part of a community that values safety, accuracy, and respect. These guidelines work together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to keep our platform helpful for everyone.

What CrimeRadar Is All About

CrimeRadar brings together verified incident data from official sources like police, fire, EMS, and traffic scanners. Together, we can:

  1. Stay informed with real-time incident maps by location and type
  2. Filter information that matters most to you (date, risk level, category)
  3. Share insights through comments and reactions
  4. Help others by resharing incidents with helpful context
  5. Improve accuracy by providing feedback on reports

Our goal is simple: help you make informed decisions about your safety while building a supportive community.

Keeping Our Community Safe

To protect everyone using CrimeRadar, we need to avoid certain types of content. Here's what doesn't belong on our platform:

🚫 Hate Has No Place Here

Our community includes people from all walks of life, and everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. We don't allow:

🚫 No Harassment or Bullying

We want everyone to feel comfortable participating. Please avoid:

  1. Insulting, intimidating, or threatening other users
  2. Personal attacks or vendettas
  3. Naming private citizens unless confirmed by official reports
  4. Retaliating against users who correct or flag content

🚫 Keep Information Accurate

Misinformation can cause real harm to individuals and communities. Help us stay reliable by not:

  1. Sharing unverified accusations or rumors
  2. Misrepresenting scanner information
  3. Spreading speculation as fact

🚫 Respect Privacy

Everyone deserves privacy, especially during difficult times. Please don't share:

  1. Names, license plates, addresses, or phone numbers not already public
  2. Personal details that could identify minors or vulnerable individuals
  3. Security footage from private property without owner permission

Good news: If you're affected by a post, our Privacy Correction Portal makes it easy to request removal or updates.

🚫 No Vigilante Justice

We believe in letting professionals handle law enforcement. Our platform shouldn't be used for:

  1. Encouraging confrontation or "taking justice into your own hands"
  2. Promoting violence or vigilantism
  3. Celebrating harm to anyone

🚫 Keep It Appropriate

CrimeRadar is a family-friendly platform focused on safety. We don't allow:

  1. Sexual content or inappropriate comments about victims or suspects
  2. Promotion of harmful behaviors like self-harm or illegal drug use
  3. Jokes about serious crimes like sexual assault or homicide

How We Keep Things Running Smoothly

Our Moderation Team

We use a combination of human moderators, smart technology, and community reports to keep our platform safe. Most content issues are resolved quickly and fairly.

When Content Gets Removed

Some content needs immediate attention for everyone's safety:

  1. Personal threats or sharing private information (doxxing)
  2. Content that endangers children
  3. Unblurred faces of minors or victims
  4. Scanner audio that reveals private details

Community-Powered Safety

You have tools to help keep our community great:

  1. Flag content that seems incorrect or inappropriate
  2. Vote on accuracy of crime reports
  3. Submit privacy requests through our easy-to-use portal
  4. Customize your experience with filters and location settings

Location Features That Protect You

We've designed our location features with your safety in mind:

  1. Crime data comes from public records, but we know it's not always perfect
  2. Locations are approximate unless officially confirmed
  3. Your location (blue dot) is only visible to you unless you choose otherwise
  4. Most importantly: Never put yourself in danger based on app information

Building Trust Together

We believe in second chances, but some actions can't be overlooked:

  1. Repeated violations may result in account restrictions
  2. Serious violations (like threats or doxxing) may be reported to law enforcement
  3. We may make exceptions for content with clear educational or public interest value
