Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Texas Panhandle area


Southwest winds 5 to 10 miles an hour, becoming south this afternoon. Chance of rain 10%. The National Weather Service in Lubbock, Texas has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for, northeastern Floyd County in northwestern Texas, northwestern Motley County in northwestern Texas, Southwestern Hall County in the Panhandle of Texas, southeastern Briscoe County in the Panhandle of Texas, until 3.15 p.m. At 2.39 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles west of Flomut, or 15 miles south of Caprock Canyon State Park, and is nearly stationary. Hazard, 60 miles per hour wind gusts and half dollar size hail. Source, radar indicated. Impact, hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, entries. Locations impacted include Caprock Canyon State Park, Kidikwe, Valley Schools, and Flomut. For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
