Man with suspected spinal injury after icy fall

Emergency medical staff are taking a 59-year-old man to Bayview Hospital after he slipped on ice about an hour earlier, fell backward, and hit his head. He now has neck pain that gets worse when he moves, weakness, and reduced movement in his hands, and he feels an electrical shock sensation from his neck into his hands. He has a history of neck surgery with discs removed and plates placed and is suspected to have a possible spinal injury, but his feeling and pulse in his arms and legs are normal. His vital signs are stable apart from high blood pressure, and he is awake, alert, and did not lose consciousness. He is not taking blood-thinning medicine.
