Here is the latest weather synopsis for the Middle Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians, issued at 9.52 a.m. Eastern Daylight time. The heat wave and chance for showers and thunderstorms continue. High pressure keeps the heat and humidity going into this weekend. This, combined with a few passing disturbances, will create chances for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. A storm or two could be marginally severe, but widespread severe weather is not anticipated. Heavy rainfall will likely accompany any showers or storms, and localized flash flooding could arise this weekend as a result. Strengthening high pressure will decrease the chance for showers and thunderstorms early next week. However, the heat and humidity will continue. A cold front will approach by mid to late week, and showers and thunderstorms will return. Behind the cold front, there will be a welcome change to much cooler weather next weekend. Be sure to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning until the heat wave breaks.
