Armed Suspect Threatening Hikers at Runyon Canyon Park

Summary: A male white suspect, wearing a black shirt, black pants, and a baseball cap, was reported threatening hikers with a hatchet at 2000 North Fuller Avenue, in front of the Red House and near a Gulfstream trailer at Runyon Canyon Park, Los Angeles. The suspect was described as being with allied security or posing as such. The incident occurred near the Mulholland side of the park. Police received multiple calls, including from a group of about 20 hikers at the top of the trail by the northwest gate. The suspect was last seen near the red house along the trail, close to an airstream trailer, and was reported to have entered from Mulholland. Officers made contact with reporting parties at the Mulholland gate entrance, and there were concerns that the suspect might have approached other groups trying to return to their vehicles.
